Trance Season – Who Are We…

Celebrating its second season The Trance, a performance ensemble dedicated to new views of art-making, will present two full-length productions at The Edge Theatre in Chicago in 2019-2020. The Season opens with The Third Richard by John Kirk, directed by Trance Artistic Director Maggie Veach. The Third Richard, pulls back the veil surrounding the life and legacy of one of history’s most notorious kings, Richard the III, to reveal the complexity of the man beyond the myth. The play takes us on a journey that questions the “truth,” and lays out a dynamic literary landscape that calls into question our perceptions of how we perceive truth, falsehood, fiction, and each other. Performances will be held at The Edge Theatre in Chicago on Friday, December 13th at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14th at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday December 15th at 2:00 p.m. The Season closes in May of 2020 with Riding the Bicycle. Trance Artistic Director, Maggie Veach, will serve as both author and director for this world premiere production. Riding the Bicycle chronicles the life of Ella, a young bisexual woman, as she maneuvers her sexual identity with humor, grace, and social complexity.  Performances will be at The Edge Theatre on  Friday, May 29th and Saturday May 30th. Both performances will be at 8:00 p.m.
